The Fear

This has been something in the making for a long time.

I've always said I was gonna do this.

It has always been my intention on doing this.

I just hadn't found the time. Nor felt the circumstances to be right...

But I've decided to do it NOW.

I'll tell you this. Starting your own mixtape is a VERY challenging thing. You set up beats, but you dont want the WHOLE thing to be beats from songs that everyone has heard. You go through the whole "writing before/writing during" process. You choose your best songs to record while allowing yourself to be spontaneous and make songs "on the fly". Then its recording. Cause you dont wanna do it grassroots in ya homeboy's closet. or "Hustle and Flow" style in ya moms basement or garage. But if the sound quality is there, and you got to the tools... I say go for it.

Through all these hurdles, I managed to decide to do it. But it wasn't until hearing Drake's "SO FAR GONE" that I completely went over the edge. I admit, I was waiting for something to inspire me, 808's and Heartbreak got me close...but not enough. "Comeback Season" got me closer... But it was "SO FAR GONE" that did it... I remember the moment: Late at night, listening to "Say Whats Real" and the line of, "My next girl standing by my EX girl, standing by the NEXT girl I'm fucking right now..." That sealed it. I immediately turned off the radio and started writing. I had been writing casually earlier, but now I was in a inspired rage. After I found my beats, called my boy Mike who usually makes beats for me... I linked up with another producer TWIX. And now you pretty much have the outline for your mixtape. I decided to call it, "N PLAIN SIGHT".

I named it that because a lot of things that we dont realize or really recognize is right in front of us namely, in plain sight. Whether its the right choice, right career, right location, the "one"... these things can all be in plain sight. Deep huh? This mixtape is like a diary of sorts, a chronicle of events that has happened in the past or at that moment.Cause there's alot I'll get off my chest. I just wanted to blog and tell you guys my plans, and as a show of good faith... I'll type out my TRACK LIST [LATER] to prove I'm not bs'in you...

So wish me luck...

Digital Girl of The Week [It's A *GASPS* Tie!]: Megan Fox & Olga Kurylenko

Okay... So I figured I haven't blogged in a minute, so if I was gonna do it I was gonna do it rather big. If you've been under a rock and haven't seen movies like HITMAN or QUANTUM OF SOLACE or most recently... MAX PAYNE [alot of people didn't], then you've seen Olga Kurylenko [Who is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!] There's other pics I could post, but I don't wanna risk another "backlash" like I got for the Aubrey O'day post [LOL]. Megan Fox though, of TRANSFORMERS fame, is so HOT its not even funny. But the fact that she has an INSANE sense of humor gives her more points on my scale of hotness. So feel free to look, deposit it in your "spank bank" [as my BEST FRIEND Ross would say] and comment. Oh yeah, HOLLA AT ME on TWITTER. I need followers... LOL

Drake: Leaders Of The New School Cover 2010?

So I was TWITTER-ing today and I saw Clover Hope's [An editor for XXL] page and me and her had a conversation... And Drake's name came up... Here's an excerpt:

listening to Drake per everyone's recommendation. so far, so emo. nice. from TwitterFox

@clovito You really think Drake is EMO? from web in reply to clovito

clovito @NB_Confidential yeah, judging from his beat choice and content. really sentimental. Some of his mixtape is very 808s & Heartbreak-esque from TwitterFox in reply to NB_Confidential

NB_Confidential @clovito I hear you on that, but I definitely feel that he has something to offer though. "Successful" is a great track minus weezy. from web in reply to clovito

clovito @NB_Confidential yep! him, b.o.b. and nipsey hussle give me hope for the future

NB_Confidential @clovito Okay, so you think Drake is good... Do you think he'll make a XXL cover? Or at least make next yrs "Leaders Of The New School"? from web in reply to clovito

clovito @NB_Confidential he has potential for the new school cover depending on when his album drops. I'm sure it'll get pushed back a few times lol from web in reply to NB_Confidential

I'm wearing her down... SLOWLY...

NAJ-STALGIA: A Love Letter To Hip-Hop...[Written In O7]

Damn... Sometimes it hurts so much to have so much in your head and there's no one to listen. Especially at a time like 3,4 in the am. It just gets so depressing to have all these thoughts in your head and theres no one to listen, no one to vent to. You're just surrounded by places you'll never go, things you'll never have and people you'll never meet. Its so maddening because I have so much to say and no one to listen...It makes me feel crazy, but I know that I'm not...Watching movies like: "Brown Sugar" and "Krush Groove" and "Fade To Black", really showed me how much I love this industry, this movement we call Hip-Hop. I love everything it stands for. In a world where everybody is in tuned to their own feelings, hip-hop made me feel accepted, made me feel like I had a voice...I love hip-hop for making me feel free, free to think what I wanted, free to be...ME!

Listening to Common, Mos Def and Talib Kweli showed me the real. Showed me there was still substance in a world that is so obsessed with "Bling Bling", "Throwin Dees on that bitch", as well as being shot 5 to 9 times. Do you remember where you were or how you felt when you first heard The Roots "Things Fall Apart"? Do you remember your first thought when you popped in Outkast's "Aquemini" and heard classics like: "Aquemini", "Return of the G", "Da Art of Storytellin pt.1 and 2"? What about Jay's "Reasonable Doubt"? Songs like "D'Evils" and "Can I Live", not just the radio cuts...But raw, classic cuts. It's a shame that we're not recognizing the realness in today's hip-hop. We tend to sidestep thought provoking MC's like: Dead Prez, Little Brother, Ghostface Killah, Madlib, while at the same time embrace Yung Joc. How did we brush off albums like Mos's "The New Danger" or "True Magic and disavow all knowledge of The Roots "The Tipping Point" and "Game Theory" while we big up undeserving artists? Now, I fall victim to it too! Listening to Lil' Boosie when I know I don't get into him. The word "lyricist" has become a dirty word in hip-hop. Now we praise punchlines and diss tracks. What happened to artists integrity? Have they forgotten all they know? Has getting shot, selling dope and getting brain and buying ice all we're accustomed to? How can Common get a XXL and barely go platinum? How did Little Brother and Lupe Fiasco be anticipated albums in 05 and 06 respectively and barely sell 300,000 units? Now we can blame bootlegging and downloading, but maybe we let BET determine our album sales. Whoever has the biggest car or baddest video girl with the biggest ass have got us shook!

Nas said that "Hip Hop is Dead", and while it may not be...we're hanging on by a slow pulse. And if we continue to go on this path where image sells then we might as well pull the plug. Have we forgotten what got us to fall in love with hip-hop in the first place? Just hearing a simple crowd call and response? Have we done this to ourselves? While this may sound like a tireless rant, or somebody drowning in nostalgia, I only say this so our hip-hop artists see that people still care...I know we cant go back but we have to evolve. As artists, writers, lyricists, performers, we have to give the people something. I think we owe it to ourselves. We've become so worried about the check that labels are taking out of album sales anyway that some has forgotten about the fans...We've become to stagnant...too complacent in Rap. Michael Jordan didn't stop after that 1st ring so why should we? Hip-Hop is a force that cannot be stopped, but we can stop ourselves. As an avid reader of XXL and VIBE, I hope they put other artists like Little Brother, Mos Def and Talib or others on the cover. I know you're trying to sell, but we can do better! I believe we can do it. I can only dream a dream...Like Common said, "We on our Jeffersons yall/ but we forgot the theme".

In closing... I could never think Hip-Hop is dead because its alive in me and somewhere deep inside, behind that jesus piece... Its still in you....

Is This The "Answer"?

So I guess A.I had to do something to get Detroit inspired after a 27-24 record at the All-Star Break...

But cut his hair? Hmmm... IDK, but this has got to be the most newsworthy second to SHAQ's Jabberwockee Dance Moves...

But lets look at A.I when he first had a haircut...

Okay... Not Bad. So A.I now?

Okay... Still The Same... But still though, Was it "The Answer"?

Revenge Is Coming...

STRIPPED: Aubrey O'Day

Damn, funny how time flies don't it? 4 months ago, DANITY KANE was on top on the world: #1 album... Platinum status... Hit show... Then disaster struck. Aubrey and D-Woods flipped the script and DIDDY kicked possibly the 2 cutest ones out the group. Now, D-Woods is trying to create the female version of the "Wu-Tang Clan" [Whatever that means...], Shannon's M.I.A, That other girl who nobody paid attention to is doing... something, and Aubrey is on the cover of PLAYBOY. So I think the only one who's ACTUALLY working is DAWN... [Maybe tryna keep Day26 together don't count, but she is writing songs for Diddy]

But this is about Aubrey, who got paid 500K to pose... And actually Hef, its 500K well spent... She actually looks good... Not better than Kim K's, but she's there...

Now people, if you got little brothers or sisters... or ya parents be snoopin thru your history on the internet, click the X at the right of your screen... What you are about to see is clearly ADULTS ONLY. And me being me... Since I can do anything I want on my blogsite... I present to you... AUBREY O'DAY. Live in In FLESH...

Maybe her career's not so "DAMAGED" after all... LOL... Sorry I had to throw that out there...

Digital Girl of the Week: Eliza Dushku

Either its just me, or ELIZA DUSHKU just happens to be like the LUCKIEST and PRETTIEST woman on the telly right about now. I first saw her on BUFFY and she played the psycho, gorgeous, Buffy hating, vampire slaying FAITH well. Then again on FOX a cpl years ago with that wack show TRU CALLING... But fate [and JOSS WHEDON] shows its face again and gives us more ELIZA. Whether this show, "DOLLHOUSE" is good or not... I don't care. I get to see ELIZA...

Hey, I need something to wet my appetite before I see 13 on House...

SO...FAR...GONE... [HISTORY]

So today, IDK what happened...

But me and cheVelle... My cohost on our radio show participated in what you would call a "low-key historic event"... The HYPE, the BUILDUP... The ANTICIPATION around  "SO FAR GONE" WAS CRAZY! And just to be apart of it and MAYBE even HELP MAKE IT BIGGER than it was or it could ever be is absolutely mind-boggling... and the delay in the upload has only made it even a bigger event then it already was to start with.

So I wanna just shout out EVERYBODY who was apart of this whole thing...

BECAUSE IT WAS NOT JUST US, IT WAS YOU GUYS THAT WERE APART OF THIS!

I hope Drake reads this or reads the comments and SEE how big it was...

Just see how his music affects us all: Whether we miss school, don't sleep for 3 days, argue with our girls, skip work...

just to DOWNLOAD his MIXTAPE... Not BUY... DOWNLOAD...

SO THANK YOU...

I HOPE YALL ENJOY THE CD...

MORE INFO ON OUR SHOW LATER...

TODAY...

Or this morning rather, I woke up with the satisfaction of seeing DRAKE's new mixtape SO FAR GONE posted on his blogsite. But much to my surprise, shock, horror, chagrin (take ya pick), THERE IS NO MIXTAPE POST. Only updates from 40 (Drake's engineer) saying that he needed 1.5 hrs left... It's 6:30 am and still... NO POST. NO UPDATES. NOTHING. I proud to be a Drake fan because I see all the fans unite for a cause... and one cause only: TO HAVE "SO FAR GONE" in their hands, computers, iPODs, Zunes, whatever... Just have the damn thing!

So Drake, we're waiting...

-end.

Next To Blow: DRAKE

Okay... So I gotta say that XXL missed a person on their annual "Leaders Of The New School" issue...That person was my dude DRAKE... I didn't know "DRAKE" was dude from Degrassi [I'm addicted to that show]. Nevertheless, I heard "Brand New" before I heard "Replacement Girl" so now I'm scrambling to catch up on mixtapes... And I may add that he's a good blogger too. But really though, the dude can sing, act, and rap his ass off. He even steals the show from Weezy on a couple songs... [I really wouldve loved to hear him on that "Thank You" song wit Jae Millz , Mack Maine and Wayne though.] But that's my opinion. I'm definately on the lookout for his newest mixtape dropping this THURSDAY [SO FAR GONE] and from the looks of it, he's on a roll. That "Little Bit RMX" with Lykke Li is FI-YAH! So be on the lookout for Drake and October's Very Own... They bout to blow...

Check out his blog: www.octobersveryown.blogspot.com

YOUNG MOOLAH BABY!

Vitals:

Name: Drake
How you know him: He's "Jimmy" from The N's "Degrassi"
Label: I dont think he's on a major yet, but he is a Young Money affiliate
Joints to Check For: Replacement Girl, Ransom, Little Bit Remix, Brand New, Unstoppable Remix

Headliner: "And everytime I think of stayin' with her/She bring a friend around that make a nigga re-consider."

For All The TREKKIES Out There...

If you've been under a rock, or didn't see the SUPER BOWL [Like moi]... The dude who created Alias, Lost, directed the VERY WACK but kinda good M:I-3 and the VERY AWESOME movie called Cloverfield brings you... STAR TREK. I gotta admit, I'm not even a fan but after I saw the trailer I indeed circled its release date on my calendar... It looks like its gonna be a hot movie and plus Kirk gets down with a BLACK CHICK! [Zoe' Saldana from DRUMLINE]. So wit all these summer movies like Fast and Furious coming out, I quote Cam'Ron when I say "It's Gonna Be A Hot Summer!"

Enjoy the trailer folks.
Live Long and Prosper... [Whatever That Means...]

Digital Girl of the Week: RISKY

So I lyke TOTALLY LOVE this girl. RISKY BIZNESS from VH1's Real Chance of Love. Now, I would say Chance was an IDIOT for letting her go but hey, HIS LOSS MY GAIN? Maybe? Maybe not, but who cares... She's 23 and stays in GA... and she's ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS... As Andre3k would say, "Maybe I'll Have The Courage One Day..."

The End is Near?

I thought this was HILLARIOUS...
Hackers are messing with electronic road signs in some states, warning of zombies and raptors down the road. But the traffic safety officials aren't amused. The latest breach came during Tuesday morning's rush hour near Collinsville, Ill., east of St. Louis. That's where the hackers changed a sign along southbound Interstate 255 to read, "DAILY LANE CLOSURES DUE TO ZOMBIES."
Similar pranks have been pulled in recent days near Indianapolis and in Austin, Texas.
The Illinois Department of Transportation's Joe Gasaway worries that such pranks distract drivers from legitimate hazards down the road, perhaps endangering road crews.
In Illinois, tampering with an official traffic control device is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $250 fine.
Honest to blog... If I see something like this on I-26, I'm gonna die of either laughter or by car accident...
from LAUGHING...
And really, why does the funny and INTERESTING stuff ALWAYS happens outside of SOUTH CAROLINA?

Why The Game Needs Kobe Bryant...

I'ma be the first to say it.

F*CK THE SUPER BOWL...

NOT because I didn't watch it...

NOT because the underdog, "fairy tale" team like the Cardinals lost.

NOT because the Pittsburgh Steelers are the NFL equivalent to the San Antonio Spurs...

But because the night AFTER what sports fans are calling "one of the greatest games EVER", the NIGGA you LOVE to HATE (Not that NIGGA... Sorry Cube) gave all of us 61 more reasons to hate him. He outright gave the best performance in Madison Square Garden history.

Yup, KOBE...

Not Lebron who put up fiddy (50) last year...

Even KB24's IDOL, Michael Jordan put up 55...

So move over Bernard King who set the mark at 60 in 84' (Danni Dan WHAT UP?), the self-proclaimed "Black Mamba" (Kobe's nickname for himself) eclipsed it... and then left the court with 2 and a half minutes remaining with NEW YORK fans screaming, “MVP … MVP” like it was Jay's last concert all over again...

I'ma be the first to admit... I didn't like KOBE. I hated Kobe, and everything KOBE stood for. That damn smile, that jumper, the way he drives the lane... EVERYTHING.

When the Lakers lost against the Pistons in 01 to end the 3peat, who was the bad guy? Kobe. (I personally blame the whole damn team...)

When Shaq left the Lakers, who was the bad guy? Kobe.

The INFAMOUS Colorado rape trial? Bad guy was who? Kobe.

The Lakers couldn't make the playoffs to save their life the bad guy was who? Yeah... Kobe.

Everybody had something to say about Kobe. Hell, Dave Chappelle devoted almost half of his "For what its worth" comedy special about Kobe. Dave even called Kobe, the "last good black guy left".

But you can't knock the guy hustle. Yeah, he cried in front of all of us on TV when he confessed to his infidelity.

Yes, we laughed when he heard he bought his wife a whopping 3-million dollar ring shortly after that.

Yeah, we snickered when we heard he bought his wife a Lamborghini and spent just 500,000 dollars more to make it into an AUTOMATIC.

And we laughed at his attempt to rap. (I say that he wasn't that bad...)

But this dude we see today is not the dude who asked BRANDY to his senior prom. The guy who got booed in his hometown of PHILLY when he won the ALL STAR MVP. And this definately aint the guy who Shaq asked "How does my ass taste?" in a freestyle...

This the dude who put on a show last year as he won the MVP award and scoring title. The same guy who helped bring the famous 'Lakers Vs. Celtics' rivalry back. The guy who we all said couldn't pass, couldn't defend nor be a team player and proceeded to REDEEM the U.S of A in the olympics by simply molesting them other countries (Sorry Angola.)

I realized that we dont hate necessarily HATE Kobe because of who he is... We hate him because we know this nigga is THAT good. Yeah, he used to be number 8 but he chose 24 because he wanted to be better than 23. He wants to be remembered as the greatest player of his time – maybe ever – and understands that an important part of that always goes through New York.

So, KB donated 61 points to the shrine Monday night, with the greatest offensive performance the Garden had ever seen. Perhaps it was inevitable that he had to go for everything because of simply the guys who I talked about up above. Here was a perfect storm for that to happen. Kobe's sense of nostalgia meets a simmering rage over the loss of Andrew Bynum. Bryant had crashed into his teammate Saturday night, torn his MCL, and the diagnosis of a two to three month recovery ripped through the Lakers. So rather be the bad guy again to the city of Los Angeles, there would be hell to pay for the Knicks.

Across this brilliant night, long jumpers and twisting turnarounds and breathless drives – I saw a somberness to him. Maybe it was a message to his teammates, to the rest of the league, that the Lakers were still chasing a championship. Maybe he just wanted to change the story line overnight from Bynum’s knee to his own greatness. Without Bynum, Bryant’s burden grows immensely, and so, there was no joy in him. No frivolity, no jabbering with Spike Lee. He didn't even acknowledge the Knick fans who chanted for him... Bryant has become a better teammate, a better team player, but the core of WHY we hate him is unchanged: Ultimately, he goes it alone. As well as anyone since Jordan, he creates that high drama and elevates himself to reach it. He started scoring fast and never stopped. The Knicks were props. They looked as liable to ask him for his autograph as they did try to defend him.

But if he wants to win his 4th title as much as ever, Bryant will need to honor the lessons learned a year ago on the way to the Finals. He needs his teammates and they need him. Even his coach, an old Knick, was respectful of Bryant’s bid for Garden history, but seemed wary of its lingering impact on a team that has to learn to play differently again. After all these years of coaching Michael and Kobe on these trips to New York, Phil knows that resistance is futile. Wisely, he let Kobe go. He'll have to worry about coaching the rest of the team tomorrow.

So F*CK the Super Bowl... All of that hoopla about Santonio Holmes, Big Ben and the Steelers is boring to a nigga like me. Cause as a Knick fan, I quote Kobe:

“This is the last one left, this is the last one that holds all the memories.”

So while we have good guys Chris Paul and Dwight Howard and Lebron... D-Wade and others, we need to HATE Kobe. Because, Kobe can be that HERO that we and the NBA deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hate on or simply just hate him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero...

All that nostalgia, all that rage... Yeah, resistance was futile. These were 61 points... 61 reasons to stand the test of time...

2nd Post: Missing Persons Report [POEM]

Excuse me, have you SEEN this girl?
About 5 ft high...? Beautiful brown eyes?
Round face with full lips that just dares you to have a taste?
A nice, curved body that could only seem so GODLY?
I lost her awhile back, She was goin thru some thangs and she aint need me for that...
I sat by my prhone till they turned it off, now I aint heard from her at all.
MYSPACE messages are few and in between... I would never know how she was if it weren't for statuses...
I talked to her once... I asked if I was losin her and she said she was already LOST
The WORST part is, she said that she LIKED it...
Now I doubt if I'll ever see her again...
The girl I LOVED MOST is GONE... All I got is her picture and a SONG...
The last memory I have is a KISS... That felt so good but it hurts so bad, I can't even reminisce...
I'm afraid she's DISAPPEARED from view... So let me know immediately if she's ever around you...
I once vowed to travel "500 Light Years Away"... I thought "Everythings Right"... but now its not so okay...
So if you see her, tell her "I LOVE HER" and I wish she would call...
But how do you find somebody, who doesn't want to be FOUND AT ALL...?

Grand Opening... Digital Girl of The Week [and quite possibly FOREVER]

This is Chiree Nikole...
She calls herself "The Black Marilyn Monroe", or just simply [ms.monroe*].
And it aint even the fact that she's certified [GORGEOUS], she's independent... Her SWAG is on an all-time [HIGH]. Not to mention, she's a MAC Make-Up artist in Columbia, SC.
In her words...
"I hear you talking, but I only speak to DEADmen; [last name-FRANKLIN first name-BENJAMIN] charged so much to the game i got a black card..."

Need more evidence of how fly she is? Need more proof? Look no further than below...
